Impress your interviewer

 IMPRESS YOUR INTERVIEWER

"A qualified candidate exhibits leadership, poise, confidence, creativity, and most importantly, a strong work ethic!" - Waymond King, Hallmark Cards, Inc

1.  Come to the interview prepared.

All it takes is one question for the interviewer to know if you did any preparation.  "What can you tell me about our company, our products/services, and what our vision is?"

2.  Know about the company.

You need to know their culture, their work enviroment, their management philosophy and how you would be a good fit.

3.  Be an excellent listner.

The successful candidate listens to a question, doesn't interrupt until the interviewer is finished, and answers only that specific question.

4.  Be positive.

Don't ruin an interview by worrying if you're saying the right things and forgetting to smile.  Make the interviewer feel at ease and you score favourable points.  In addition, enthusiasm plays a significant role in determining whether of not you get the job offer.  Develop a rapport with the interviewer by asking job related questions.

5.  Don't ramble.

Be careful not to ramble.  If the interviewer wants more information after you have answered a question, he or she will ask you.

6.  Cite a specific example when answering questions.

Successful candidates listen to the entire question and then offer an answer supported by an example.  Citing specific examples when answering gives you tremendous credibility and believability.  Remember, your past performance is the best way to judge your future performance.

7.  Ask great questions.

Poor candidates don't have any questions so they ask about the salary, benefits, vacation schedule, etc.  Good candidates ask about company vision, challenges, goals, new products, the role teams play, and what is expected from him or her.

8.  Tell the interviewer you really want the job.

If you have researched the company and would really like to work there, then tell the interviewer!  Let your enthusiasm show.
